I hope you"re enjoying a wonderful week!! Today I want to share a tip for beautiful and strong nails. At this time of year, perhaps because we spend more time with our hands in the water, our nails tend to be more brittle and fragile. I keep them very short but I still feel sometimes they´re quite bendy and weak. So while soaking in this infusion, I remembered I had not shared this easy tip with you. So today I want to share  my recipe for healthy and beautiful nails.

Espero que estéis disfrutando de una bonita semana!! Hoy quiero compartir un tip para unas uñas más bonitas y fuertes. En este momento del año, quizás porque pasamos más tiempo con las manos sumergidas en el agua, las uñas tienden a ser más quebradizas y frágiles. Yo las llevo muy cortas pero aún así las noto más blanditas y débiles. Por ello, mientras las remojaba en esta infusión, me acordé que no había compartido aún este truquillo con vosotras. Así que hoy os contaré mi truco para unas uñas sanas y bonitas.

Si bien lo más importante para lucir unas uñas sanas es llevar un ritmo de vida saludable, con una dieta variada y equilibrada y una buena hidratación. Comer abundantes frutas y verduras será nuestro mejor aliado, por ser una rica fuente de minerales.
También es importante protegerlas de los detergentes de limpieza corrosivos, utilizando guantes. Aún así, puede ser que notemos que tardan mucho en crecer, o que al crecer, se acaban abriendo y descamando. 
Para esos casos, podemos recurrir a este remedio casero que funciona muy bien, aunque requiere cierta constancia, como con cualquier producto, hay que llevarlo a cabo muchas veces, no hay nada milagroso! pero con paciencia, notaréis que las uñas se empiezan a ver mucho más saludables!
Utilizaremos cola de caballo, que es una de las plantas medicinales más antigua que se ha utilizado, se le han atribuido un sinfin de propiedades a lo largo de la Historia. Tradicionalmente, se utiliza en cremas y lociones para cicatrizar heridas de la piel. Ingerida, para remineralizar huesos, cabello y uñas quebradizas, así como para aliviar los dolores articulares. En infusión, debido a su efecto diurético, es muy útil contra la retención de líquidos y la cistitis, además actúa contra la reuma y la inflamación de piernas.
Esta planta es un gran aliado tanto para perder peso como para prevenir el envejecimiento. Al ser diurética, desintoxica y depura las vías urinarias y la sangre, y esta limpieza interior ayuda a evitar la acumulación de toxinas y la proliferación de bacterias. Asimismo, este efecto depurativo  previene las arrugas, atenúa estrías y regenera los tejidos dañados por variaciones de peso. 
En cuanto a su uso como fortalecedor de las uñas, simplemente haremos una infusión concentrada, la dejaremos enfriar y sumergiremos las uñas durante 10 minutos, un par de veces a la semana.
Para preparar la infusión, agregar 3 ctas de cola de caballo en una taza de agua hirviendo. Dejamos reposar unos 5 minutos, colamos, dejamos enfriar y ya podemos utilizarla.  Pasado el tiempo de remojo, secamos suavemente las uñas e hidratamos con aceite de oliva, o un oleato de romero, o nuestra crema casera de coco y limón.
Si también queréis disfrutar de sus propiedades en vuestro organismo  (en estas fechas muchas queremos depurar y librarnos de algún kilillo), podéis preparar una tisana y beberla fresquita de la nevera. Sabe bastante bien y nos ayudará en nuestro cometido.

At this time of year, perhaps because we spend more time with our hands in the water, our nails tend to be more brittle and fragile. I keep them very short but I still feel sometimes they´re quite bendy and weak. So while soaking in this infusion, I remembered I had not shared this easy tip with you. So today I want to share  my recipe for healthy and beautiful nails.
While the most important thing to look healthy nails is to keep a healthy lifestyle, with a varied and balanced diet and good hydration. Eating plenty of fruits and vegetables will be our best ally, as they´re a rich source of minerals.
It is also important to protect them from corrosive cleaning detergents, using gloves. Still, you might notice that it takes time to grow, or once they grow they start splitting, breaking or peeling.
For those cases, we can use this home remedy that works very well, although it requires some perseverance, like with any product, you must carry it out many times, there is nothing miraculous! but with patience, you will notice that your nails start to look much healthier!
We´ll use Horsetail, which is one of the oldest medicinal plants that have been used, it has been attributed to a multitude of properties throughout History. Traditionally, it is used in creams and lotions for skin wound healing. Ingested, to mineralize bones, brittle hair and nails, as well as to relieve joint pain. Infused, due to its diuretic effect, it´s very useful against fluid retention and cystitis, also acts against rheumatism and inflammation of legs.
This plant is a great ally to lose weight so as to prevent aging. As diuretic, detoxifies and cleanses the urinary tract and blood, and this inner cleaning helps prevent the accumulation of toxins and bacterial growth. This cleaning effect also prevents wrinkles, reduces stretch marks and regenerates damaged tissue from weight variations.
To use it as a nail strengthener, just prepare a concentrated infusion, let it cool and soak the nails for 10 minutes, a couple times a week.
To prepare the infusion, steep 2 teaspoons of dried Horsetail in a boiling cup of water, for around 10 minutes. Let it cool down and soak your nails. After soaking, gently dry your nails and moisturize with olive oil, or  rosemary infused oil, or our homemade lemon and coconut cream.
If you also want to enjoy its properties in your body (at this time of the year, some of us want to detoxify and lose some weight), you can try a Horsetail iced tea. It tastes quite good and will help us in our mission.
