Although it is the first time that I speak to you about Jacquemus, I have been following the brand for a while. If it doesn’t sound familiar, you have surely seen the bag which took over instagram in 2018, le chiquito bag (photo below). He also became famous for his ranway shows in beautiful locations such as lavender fields, parks and beaches outside Paris. Today I want to tell you about his latest show “Le Montagne” and why I consider that Simon Jacquemus, although he has not made very revoltionary proposals lately (in fact he has been criticized because his pieces seem too much like Zara) is doing excellent in other terms.
Their latest collections are wearable and versatile, especially this one. The few prints or finishes that he adds make a big reference to other brands such as Prada, Versace and Dior. However, he has focused on making a strong marketing strategy to keep his positioning. He is a designer who is taking advantage of the momentum that his brand has by using current trends such as:
The “body diversity” with plus size models that we could see on this show. He clearly addressed an increasingly demanded topic in the fashion industry
An instagrammable collection, with comfortable and utilitary pieces that we all have used during the pandemic in neutral colors with pops of color and mix of textures.
Last but not least, having a strong set of top models such as Sora, Bella and Kendall, who always give us something to talk about
What do you think? Personally, I do not see bad that brands generate more profitable collections that sell more and that they are not only admired. It is something that other designers like Maria Gracia Churi is doing for Dior. But, on the other hand, I got the impression that this collection doesn´t feel premium, meaning that is lacking the quality in materials, finishing touches and fit (I repeat it’s only my impressionas I haven´t seen it in person). But, what do you think, do you like it? do not forget to write it in the comments below.
Good vibes
