Îles des Saintes

Every morning the first thing I see from our terrace is "Les Saints" an archipelago from the caribbean sea, and for us one of the most beautiful treasures of these seas.
Todas las mañanas lo primero que veo desde nuestra terraza es "les Saints", un archipiélago de islitas del mar caribe y para nosotros uno de los tesoros más bonitos de estos mares.

It was one of the first excursions that we did once we arrived to Guadeloupe. If you pass by here it is a must. It is very easy to arrive, there are boats that leave from different parts of Guadeloupe, we took the one from Trois-rivières that in only 20min left us in Terre dhaut (one of the islands). It has one of the most beautiful bays of the world ( at least is what they say) but at least for us is the prettiest we have ever seen.
Fue una de las primeras excursiones que hicimos al llegar a Guadalupe. Si pasáis por estas tierras, es parada obligatoria.
Llegar es muy fácil, desde diferentes puntos de Guadalupe hay barcos que te llevan hasta allí, para nosotros el más cercano era el puerto de Trois-rivières que en tan solo 20min te deja en Terre dhaut (una de las islas).
Tiene una de las bahías más bonitas del mundo(eso dicen) pero por lo menos que nosotros hayamos visto.



Once we arrived, one of the first things we did was visit "Fort Napoleon", they call it like that even if Napoleon never went...It is on the top of a hill, which from the port with the sun can be quite hard, but the view are just perfect
Una vez allí lo primero que hicimos es ir a ver "El Fuerte de Napoleón", así se llama aunque por lo visto Napoleón nunca puso los pies en el ... cosas de la historia. Esta en lo alto de una colina la cual con la solana que hace subirla al final puede ser un poco tortura, pero las vistas desde arriba son simplemente perfectas.



There were people that after comming to the top of the hill they turn around because they didnt want to pay the entrance, my advice, go in, is worth it! If you can dont hesitate in doing the visit with a guide, it is free and they explain so many interesting things about the people on the island and their manners...like how in the pass women used sea wrack to whisk or as strainer...
Había gente que después de subir hasta arriba se daba media vuelta por no pagar la entrada del fuerte, yo recomiendo entrar, merece la pena, y si podéis hacer la visita guiada,es gratuito, y las explicaciones son muy interesantes. Cuentan muchas tradiciones y cosas típicas de la isla, como que antiguamente las mujeres usaban algas para batir los huevos o como colador...

If you can rent a moto or an electric car, they rent them near the port, and if you only have one day to visit the island it will help you to see more things , and you wont have to walk all the hill up to the Fort.We forgot our license, so we didnt have other choice than to walk, the good thing about it is that you enjoy the view twice more and you see things that in a moto you will miss, like those:
Si podéis alquilaros una moto o un coche eléctrico, los alquilan al lado del puerto y si solo tienes un día para ver la isla, te permitirá ver más cosas, y no tendréis que subir hasta el fuerte andando. Nosotros nos olvidamos el carnet de conducir, con lo cual no nos quedo más remedio, lo bueno de ir andando es que disfrutas mucho más del paisaje y descubres cosas que en moto te perderías. como estas:

The village is so cute, full of little beautiful houses, and with out knowing I was matching the town color, haha.
El pueblecito es una monada lleno de casitas con mucho encanto y sin saberlo parece que me vestí acorde con el color predominante por el pueblo, hehe.


Just one day to vist the island it can be quite short, if your planning allow you, stay two, because on the afternoon the last boat leaves at 15:45... so If you do the visits walking once you are done with the Fort and eating is nearly time to go...We will go back soon but to stay a weekend and we will move around in a motorbike:)
Un día para visitar la isla por pequeñita que sea, es poco si vuestro planning lo permite dedicarle más, ya que el último barco sale a las 15:45... si recorres la isla andando a parte de ver el fuerte de napoleón y comer ... o quedará muy poco tiempo para la playa. Volveremos pronto pero esta vez a pasar un fin de semana y la recorreremos en moto :)
