Limpieza de Closet: Tips para organizarlo mejor

Primeros días del año lleno de intenciones y objetivos así que no perdamos el empuje! Si vieron mis IG stories todo Diciembre lo dediqué a estar limpiando y organizando diferentes areas de la casa porque uno de mis objetivos este año es ser muy consciente de las cosas que quiero ver y comprar para decorar la casa y para mi closet. Para eso necesito hacer espacio para lo nuevo y que mejor que ahora que ya sabemos que seguiremos en casa y tenemos un poco más de tiempo. Chequen estos tips que me han servido mucho en este proceso de limpieza de closet.

So here we are on the first days of the year full of intentions and objectives, so let’s not lose that momentum! If you saw my IG stories throughout December, I dedicated most of the time to cleaning and organizing different areas of the house because one of my goals this year is to be very aware of the things I visualize and want to buy for home decor as well as my closet. For that, I need to make room for the new, and what better moment than now. We will continue to stay home so we have that extra time. Check out these tips that have helped me a lot in this process.

Encuentra tu motivación y visualizala

Seguro te ha pasado como a mí que pospones esta actividad o la dejas a la mitad porque te falta el paso más importante que es la clave: TENER UNA MOTIVACION. Visualiza tu closet como lo quieres, busca en pinterest ideas e imágenes de cómo te gustaría que quedara (yo tomé mi inspiración de este libro) . También puedes buscar looks de cómo quieres verte si comenzaras tu closet de 0. Emociónate por tu nuevo proyecto. Yo les comparto que mi objetivo es ir sustituyendo algunas prendas por otras de mayor calidad y me emociona comenzar esta búsqueda de tesoros, con la mejor combinación valor/precio. (que claro que les iré compartiendo)

Surely as it has happened to me, you postpone, procrastinate or leave this activity half done because we are missing the most important step, which is key: HAVE A MOTIVATION. Visualize your closet as you want it, search on Pinterest for ideas and images of how you would like it to look (I took my inspiration from this book). You can also gather some outfits of how you want to see yourself if you started your closet from scratch. Get excited about your new project. In my case, my goal is to replace some garments with others of higher quality and I am excited for this treasure hunt for the best value/price combinations.

Comienza pequeño

La fórmula de sacar todo al mismo tiempo no es la mejor porque te abrumas y acabas cansada y desesperada metiendo todo de nuevo. Ve paso a paso. Comienza por los accesorios, luego tus lentes, zapatos y de ahí comienza a agarrar el ritmo.

The formula of getting everything out in one go is not the best because you get overwhelmed and you will end up tired and desperate giving up. Go step by step. Maybe start with accessories, then your glasses, shoes, and get the ball rolling.

Separa y Limpia

Siempre hago 4 separaciones. Donar, vender, lo que me lo quedo y lo que necesita arreglo. Conforme voy revisando las cosas, checo que los ganchos estén bien, que la prenda no necesite lavarse, quitar pelusa, coser un botón, etc. Así te aseguras que lo que regresa a tu closet está listo para usarse.

I always divide everything in 4: Donate, sell, keep, and what needs fixing. As I go through things, I check that the hooks are good, that the garment does not need to be washed, remove lint, sew a button, etc. This way you make sure that what returns to your closet is ready to use.

Organiza y etiqueta

Este paso para la mayoría funciona antes pero yo lo hago durante y después y se trata de comprar contenedores o soluciones de almacenaje. Primero veo los espacios destinados a cada zona, tomo medidas y busco si existe mejor solución para eficientar el espacio. Luego checo si tengo alguna caja que podría rehusar. La verdad no me importa que mí closet ya esté limpio y luego tener que mover las cosas otra vez (No saben como me molesta hacer una compra de algo que no funcione) Super tip: Que tus contenedores sean siempre transparentes y asegúrate de etiquetar todas tus cajas para que encuentres todo más rápido

For most people, this tip works before you start purging but for me it works during and after. I’m talking about containers or storage solutions. First I take a look at the spaces assigned to each area, I take measurements and look for a better solution to make the space more efficient. Then I check if I have any boxes that I could re-use. It doesn’t matter if I finish purging my closet first and then I have to move things again. (I’m really bothered by the possibility of me buying something that didn’t work at all) Super tip: Make sure your containers are always transparent and take the time to label all your boxes so things are faster to find.

Aprovechen cada espacio

Aprovecha el espacio al máximo, especialmente la altura, o busca agregar otras soluciones con doble propósito. Que sirvan de decoración y de almacenamiento como un ottoman, una cesta, o una cómoda que te de cajones extra y que en la parte de arriba pueda ser tu tocador o donde pongas tus piezas de arte. Take advantage of all spaces, especially the height, or seek to add other solutions with dual purposes. Some that serve as decoration and storage: An ottoman, a basket, or a dresser that gives you extra drawers where the top can serve as a dressing table or for an art corner. EXTRA

Si en tus planes está mudarte, es posible que no quieras invertir o poner ese esfuerzo extra en el closet pero hay soluciones que fácilmente puedes trasladar de un lugar a otro. Estas luces que uso para mi espejo tienen pegamento que puedes remover, esta tira de leds tiene conexión a la luz y se pueden volver a instalar o este papel de mármol super accesible que puedes pegar en cualquier estante.

If there is a chance you’ll move out soon, it is possible that you don’t want to generate that extra effort in the closet but there are solutions that you can easily move from one place to another. These lights that I use for my mirror have glue that you can easily remove, this LED line has the chance to add a light connection or this affordable marble paper that you can paste on shelves or on the wall.
