This year I wanted to do something different and fun and new, so I set myself to travel to a few of the emerging fashion weeks in the world and see what is going on in those places. I think we all know what goes on in Paris or NY it’s all over the place, and everyone and there mother can register as press, pay the fee and go, and even though the main appeal is in the quality of the designers, it looses it’s appeal every year more, because it has lost its real meaning and become more about what some people outside the shows are wearing. Yes it’s good bloggers are being taken in account each day more, but it’s all about the editors, and the clowns, the ones who prepare a costume to be worn for thirty minutes and then change, so it’s not real outfits you get to see at the end. Yes there are some exceptions like Emmanuelle Alt and some few more, who keep it real, and are always in a down to earth mode, but it still is a bit sad, it is less about the designer and more about some individuals.

Now don’t get me wrong of course i’d love to see Chanel in a good seat, but just to hang out outside like most do, I don’t know, it’s not something appealing to me. So until that happens I decided to put all my interest in the emerging fashion weeks, those nobody really talks about, those who have great potential, and where you can get a good front or second row seat and watch the show comfortably, really taking into account what the designer is showing, and where the people attending are not really so much about posing, but more into discovering new talents.

I started with LAFW because well I have ties to LA, and I have some things to do here anyway so it seemed like a good opportunity. It does have a different modus operandi than any of the fashion weeks I’ve been to have, because you have a number of different producers who host a different version of the event, with different designers in different places. You have L.A Fashion Council, Art Hearts Fashion and Concept Los Angeles.

I attended L.A Fashion Council shows at Maker City, and even though some shows were awesome, some were terribly disappointing. Today I will talk to you about one of the ones that I really loved. Luckily since these are all emerging designers there is a showroom after the shows where you get to see the clothes closely, touch them and really appreciate them so in this case I took the pictures at the showroom, and because well…I am horrible taking pictures in motion, after all I am not a photographer.

I did get the chance to take better pictures of some other shows so I will show you those as well.

Rose LaGrua I loved her collection, it is so down to earth, feminine, and minimal but in a sweet, dreamy way (if that makes sense). Some of the garments remind me of Isabel Marant, they are wearable and versatile which is always good. I do feel the collection has a more spring summer feel than winter, but then we are in L.A and winter is non existent, so it works for here.

What do you think?

—————————————————————————————————————————-

moda designers and collections inspiration

A little inspiration today from one of my favorites: A.P.C. It’s no secret that I love this brand, it is a great option if you like clean lines, classic design and sober colors, like I do. It also helps that it is made for a french woman’s body: by this I mean slim and average to short height so it is a great brand in general for petite girls. This two key factors I think set it apart ...

Another of my favorites from LAFW is Sauri. I was really excited when I saw this collection because most designers were showing over the top clothes, and this however was down to earth. Wearable clothes in a dreamy color palette made out of neutrals, something I would definitely wear. The garments were all simple as you can see, and thought for every type of woman. I even loved the models, they ma ...

Friday inspiration comes from Steven Alan latest collection. It is really simple and down to earth but that has always been the labels main characteristics. For this particular season the shapes are really wide and I’m digging that. It feels so cozy to be in wide clothes in winter so this is definitely thumbs up. What do you think like it or not? I do, I am totally pursuing this collection n ...

Another beautiful but so hot day in L.A! It feels like a full winter so far, I jump from good weather, to good weather, and as it may seem wonderful, i’m not prepared! I have so little summer clothes, I struggle. One of the things I have bought since I am here is the new t-shirt I am wearing in these pictures, a basic bright white, very light tee, perfect for this weather. I was in desperate ...

The cuts: comfortable Footwear: timeless. There is much more to say, this collection actually works for day to day for a real winter situation and it definitely shows a confident woman that does not need loud colors and high heels t ...

Even though I love the Rodeo Drive/Beverly Hills area, it’s not my favorite to hang out, but it is probably the best area to shop in L.A, Melrose is also amazing but let’s face it, you get all the amazing brands with the most complete stock in Barney’s, Saks and Nordstrom, and that you can’t get anywhere else, so of course I had to pay a visit! We were also at Jil Sander Na ...

moda designers and collections the row

So of course the first collection of the season i’ll be sharing with you is my always favorite The Row. Every season I love this brand more and more for obvious reasons. Models are always, always on flats; comfort over anything, that is a plus 100 in my book, the choice of colors is always right; less is more, and the cut, well I love how they feature a longer silhouette, and relaxed fit, it ...

My favorite always, always is Margaret Howell. At first this season the first few looks I was thinking hmmm…I don’t know, until I reached to the middle, and I fell in love! Yes, yes! Midi skirts, socks with shoes, school girl vibes, patent, tons of navy, of course I love it! I am specially happy to see the patent footwear this season and the bermudas! I totally see myself wearing all h ...

Etxeberría Fall/Winter 2014-2015 ¡Cuánto echaba de menos MBFW Madrid!
